In our modern hectic lifestyles we have little time or consideration to connect with ourselves and notice our unconscious habits and to feel calm and have mental clarity. We tend to only slow down and notice when things go wrong like an illness, injury or a nervous breakdown.

Our bodies have an innate ability to heal them selves when given the right conditions. Nowadays we are constantly busy and stressed flooding our bodies with too much of the potentially damaging hormones adrenaline and cortisol. The human body with its intricate joint system for amazing potentiality is designed to move every 20 minutes. Our modern technology through work and leisure pursuits (television, phones and computers) leaves us sat for hours in a similar position thus compromising their health and creating imbalances. Similarly our passion for fitness and sports can drive us through long hours of repetitive training with implications of joint overuse and resultant imbalances. In these mind and body classes we will develop the ability to focus inwardly, to listen and observe so we can start the practice of noticing our unconscious and unhelpful habits of tension and sub-optimal motor recruitment patterns and replace them with more useful ones. Our goal is to restore normal function so life and all the things we love to do will become easier and more enjoyable. We will lose tension and become more efficient, have more energy and be able to breathe more optimally. We will acquire the skill of noticing ourselves when we start to become tense and how to relax . Living in the present is so important and these sessions will give you that unique experience to self monitor and adjust through internal feedback mechanisms in place. To find a quiet space out of our busy lifestyles and become better people when we return to them and to feel empowered knowing that we always have that ability to be calm and focused whenever we need it so we can make better decisions about our relationships with ourselves and others.

I am a yoga teacher with a sense of humour and a touch of fun. I am a fully qualified 500 hour British Wheel of Yoga teacher and I deliver a style of yoga that is not easy but is accesible to all it is mindful and inward looking and i like to pay attention to combining your physical practice with your breath and your mind.

My style is called Hatha and its yoga on the recuperative side. This means a lot of long floor based stretches and staying in postures for a while encouraging deep stretches into tendons, ligaments and fascia. I love a mindful practice and I do a lot of work combining your breathing with your physical yoga, most of my students however Want less of my physical yoga and more of my guided relaxations so please enjoy these as well.

I trained extensivley in Thailand in deep tissue acupressure massage and have done thousands of massage therapy treatments over the years. I have trained in Clinical Hypnotheray and I am a qualified Gym Instructor.

And so she decided to share these incredible tools with others and help them on their own personal journey too.

She trained Vinyasa and Prana inspired flow with the Aditya Yoga School and Yin Yoga with Norman Blair. She's attended several immersions on restorative Yoga and anatomy and is currently working towards her 500 hours certification with Alessandra Pecorella.

Hi! I’m Savitri Jo Kirwin and I love yoga! I know that regular yoga practice puts me on the path to true happiness. Everybody wants to be happy right? Even a plant turns its face to the sun.

So, are you ready to be happy? I’m not saying that its easy, its not. You have to turn up every day and try to practice either on the mat or during your daily life; you have to develop a self-awareness so that you can understand how your actions affect your life, but luckily there are many great teachers out there to help you. It is important to find the right teacher for you, in fact there is a yoga saying, “when the student is ready, the teacher appears”. So, if you don’t feel a teacher or practice is doing it for you, try someone else. Don’t be shy! Keep searching until you find the teacher who suddenly makes everything seem clear. That is the right teacher for you.

My teacher is a wonderful Brazilian woman called Sonia Sumar. I found her after my son was left with complex special needs following meningitis at just 4 months old. Sonia had devised a program called Yoga for the Special Child 47 years ago. Originally it was for her daughter Roberta, who was born with Down Syndrome. At that time in Brazil there was no help for special children, so Sonia started to teach Roberta yoga. It had such an incredible effect on her development that she went on to share her work all
over the world. I have been training with Sonia for 14 years. I’m sure you can imagine that I have been through immense pain and darkness, so there is nothing you can bring to my class that will frighten me. I teach one to one therapeutic classes to kids with all sorts of challenges. I also teach classes to typical adults, who have a whole load of different challenges! Our style of yoga is Integral Yoga Hatha; it integrates all the different aspects of yoga including Pranayama (breathing), Asana (physical postures) and Dhyana (meditation). And this is the really special thing: our traditional lineage. Sonia’s teacher was Sri Swami Satchidananda (you might know him as the Guru who opened Woodstock). And his teacher was Sri Swami Sivananda. These guys were two of the most respected yogis the world has known, and I continue their tradition of Universal Love and Acceptance. One Truth, many Paths. I would be so happy to pass these ancient teachings on to you, so come on, what are you waiting for? Let’s go! May the entire creation be filled with peace, joy, love and light and may the light of Truth overcome all darkness! Om Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi Hari Om Tat Sat
